About Trinity School

Trinity School is a co-educational independent boarding school in the coastal town of Teignmouth, Devon. Founded in 1979 as a joint Anglican-Catholic initiative, the school welcomes children from age 3 through to 19 across its Nursery, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form departments. The campus sits on a quiet hillside overlooking the Teign estuary and Lyme Bay on the Jurassic Coast. With approximately 350 pupils, every child is known personally by their teachers, and class sizes remain deliberately small. The academic programme - GCSE and A-Level alongside a broad BTEC offering - is complemented by outstanding pastoral care, helping leavers secure places at Russell Group universities including Oxbridge, Imperial, University of London and LSE. Both ISI and Ofsted have rated the school Outstanding.

Guidance

How to choose the right school in England

Before making a decision, consider the academic pathway, location and total cost of education. Here are five key areas to evaluate.

Consider which subjects the school offers and how well they align with your child's interests and university aspirations. A strong academic programme should provide both breadth and depth, with clear progression towards higher education.
Look at what the school offers beyond the classroom - sport, music, drama, clubs and outdoor pursuits. These activities are an essential part of a well-rounded education and help children grow in confidence, resilience and character.
Request a full cost breakdown - not just tuition, but also transport, guardianship, uniform, trips and incidental expenses. It is always better to plan with clarity and confidence than to face unexpected costs later.
Work with an adviser who has personally visited and assessed the schools, rather than one who relies solely on brochures and marketing claims. An experienced consultant can offer authentic, first-hand insight into what life at each school is really like.
Read reviews from other parents and pupils. Study school inspection reports and published results. The more informed you are, the more confident your decision will be.

Parent reviews

Reviews of Trinity School

Our daughter is in her second year at Trinity. The atmosphere is genuinely homely - the teachers know every child by name. The sea, the hills, the peace and quiet - after London it feels like a different world, and she is so much happier here.

Catherine B. mother of a Year 9 pupil

MARYADI recommended Trinity when we were looking for a smaller school. Our son does not thrive in large, noisy environments, and with only around 350 pupils here he has truly settled. Within a year his English improved dramatically and he was accepted into the Elite Football Programme.

Andrew & Gillian R. parents of a Year 10 pupil

We chose Trinity for the coastal setting and the small class sizes. Our daughter is in Sixth Form studying A-Level Biology and Art, and is being prepared for Russell Group entry. The teachers are genuinely invested in every pupil's success - that is something rare.

Philippa P. mother of a Sixth Form pupil
