Guidance

How to choose the right school

Five key factors to consider when selecting a UK independent school

01

Academic pathway

Consider the curriculum and subject choices. Ensure they align with your child's strengths, interests and long-term academic goals, including university progression.

02

Co-curricular opportunities

Look beyond the classroom. Sport, arts, clubs and enrichment activities play a vital role in a well-rounded education and personal development.

03

Total cost of education

Understand the full financial picture — including tuition, boarding, guardianship, travel and extras. The headline fee rarely reflects the overall cost.

04

Expert guidance

Work with professionals who know the schools first-hand. Advisors who regularly visit campuses can offer informed, objective and experience-based recommendations.

05

Reputation and outcomes

Review school performance, university destinations and independent feedback from families. A well-rounded perspective leads to a more confident decision.

What are your chances?

We will assess your profile and advise on the most suitable schools for your child.

Testimonials

What families say

MARYADI families share their experience of studying in England

Thanks to MARYADI I got into St Clare's College. The team helped with choosing the school, preparing documents and settling in. I felt supported every step of the way.

We chose ACS Cobham on MARYADI's recommendation, and it was the best decision we made. The consultants' personal knowledge of the school gave us real confidence.

The team helped not only with getting into Caterham School, but also with guardianship. Everything was handled professionally — from the first consultation to the first day at school.

Our son has been at Clifton College for two years now. MARYADI helped not just with choosing the school, but also with the visa and guardianship. Always available, always quick to resolve any issues.

Moving to another country at 14 is nerve-wracking. But MARYADI prepared me for everything — from the interview to my first days at school. Now I feel confident and I enjoy studying here.

We were choosing between three schools and couldn't decide. MARYADI's analytical report made everything clear — it had data you simply can't find online. Our daughter got into Badminton School and loves it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about getting into UK independent schools

Our fees depend on the level of support required, the number of schools considered and the student's current profile. Our core service — school selection and admissions support — is provided at no cost to families. For those seeking a more comprehensive level of support, we offer enhanced service packages tailored to individual needs. Arrange a consultation, and we will assess your situation and recommend the most appropriate level of support.
Ideally, the process begins 12–18 months before the intended start date. This allows ample time to carefully shortlist schools, prepare a strong application and complete any required assessments and interviews. That said, we also work successfully with shorter timelines where needed. In such cases, the process becomes more focused and intensive. Where places are still available, it is often possible to secure a school even at a late stage — sometimes as little as one month before the start of term — with sufficient time to arrange visas where required.
Yes, we have our own licensed guardianship company in the UK. We provide full support for your child: meeting school requirements, holiday arrangements, staying in touch with the family and handling any issues on the ground.
We visit schools in person and look at the accommodation, programmes and atmosphere. We use exclusive analytical reports with data not available publicly. Every recommendation is based on the child's personality, academic level and goals.
UK independent schools accept boarders from age 7. The most popular entry points are 11, 13 and 16 — when students move between key stages. We will help you find the right time for your child.
Yes, we arrange school visits. If you cannot visit in person, we will provide a detailed video tour filmed by our team on site. You will see the campus, boarding houses, classrooms and sports facilities through our experts' eyes.
Yes, a student visa is required (Child Student Visa for ages 4 to 17). The school issues a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) — the key document for the visa application. We help with preparing all the necessary paperwork and guide you through the visa process.
Most schools have dedicated programmes to help international students settle in. Our guardianship team also provides support — we stay in contact with the child and school, help with day-to-day matters and keep an eye on how they're doing. Most children adjust within 4 to 8 weeks.
UK schools have three main holiday periods: Christmas, Easter and summer. There are also half-term breaks (one week each term) when children must leave the school. Our guardianship company arranges host family accommodation or airport transfers for the journey home.
A day school means the child attends during school hours only — they need accommodation nearby. A boarding school includes living on campus, meals, evening study and weekend activities. For international students, boarding is the most common and practical option, offering full immersion in school life.
It depends on the age and school. For entry at 11–13, B1 (Intermediate) is usually enough. For Sixth Form (16+), B2 or above is expected. Many schools run their own English tests. We assess the child's level, match them with suitable schools and help with preparation.
